Susan van der Merwe
Chief Financial Officer
Susan is a qualified and registered Chartered Accountant (SA) with 22 years commercial experience. Her work experience also includes Audit Manager while she did her Articles, Internal Auditor at Nedcor Bank, Group Financial Accountant, Financial Manager and Chief Financial Officer. She has gained experience in working in the banking sector, manufacturing industry, government organizations, consulting organisations, property development and construction and in non profit organisations. She is fluent in English and Afrikaans.
In her capacity as Chief Financial Officer, Susan has gained experience at all levels of operations, from strategic management, implementation of a sound Governance environment, funder relations, system implementation through to detailed operational financial management. Under her leadership, the GIDZ has received a clean unqualified External Audit reports for 2017.
The cumulative value of the budgets and cash flow managed by Susan through the companies where she is involved in over the past 16 years exceed R1.7 billion. This funding has been obtained from a variety of sources, including national, provincial and local government, general and dedicated government incentive schemes, international funding and development agencies (e.g. UNIDO, USAID, SAIBL, etc.) and from the private sector.
